The application is finalized. The route is finalized. The volunteers are coming together nicely (but we're not turning away more help, so send them our way!) We just did a semi-final recon of the route today, and it is going to be A-MA-ZING!!! There will be road. There will be dirt. The road will go up, and the road will go down. And in the end, the fastest guy/girl with the most grit, luck, and grace will find themselves atop the podium. And we will be glad to hand them an envelope of prize $$!

If you are one of those people looking for a different type of race to compete in, who feel that the mountains are what bikes were made for, and you feel a little dirt is good for bikes, then this is the race for you. If you are going to race, here are a few tips you should know before you show:
You should have pave-like tires of a wider tread that are puncture resistant. Puncture resistance will have a greater advantage than a few grams of weight.
You may want to race your cyclocross bike with cross tires. This will give you an advantage on the dirt, but be a bit slower on the tarmac.
Your brakes and brake cables should be adjusted properly and in tip-top condition. There are several steep descents which will require a properly maintained bike and a healthy dose of caution for your safety.
